Allardyce happy with Brown Rovers chief confident in number two

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has no qualms about throwing Jason Brown into his side.

The Welsh international is set to replace the injured Paul Robinson against Everton, after coming off the bench to play at Hull City on Sunday.

Allardyce is now ready to use him if Robinson does not recover in time for Wednesday's clash at Ewood Park - a game that can be seen live on Sky Sports 2 & HD2.

"I was very pleased that Jason came in and performed as he did, he didn't have any chance with the goal and he made a couple of very good saves," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's going to be touch and go with Paul, we'll give it until the morning but it's doubtful.

"Jason did well on Sunday so he may get another chance. A strong mentality should stand him in good stead but I for one would settle for mid-table obscurity right now - but we are a long way from that at the moment."
Hopeful

Brown is hopeful he will get his chance against The Toffees.

"I haven't had many chances so I will do my best to grab this one," said Brown.

"This might sound silly but being stuck in mid-table you don't have anything to play for. Being at the top or in a relegation fight is what's exciting.

"The pressure that's on us is fantastic. I was saying to the boys yesterday

there's nothing better than going away and beating teams like Hull and their fans are going mad at you.

"Feeling the buzz and the nervousness is great, playing in the pressure of the Premier League is what it's all about."

Brown also paid tribute to Brad Friedel, who he was number two to for a number of seasons before he moved to Aston Villa in the summer.

"Competing against him, there is not many better than him and he is still unbelievable still," he told Sky Sports News.

"He is cracking on a bit but he is still fantastic and working with him was fantastic and one reason I think I can perform so well is because of him."
